AMD Catalyst 12.2 Application Profiles CAP 1 Available for Download | Technology News

The Catalyst 12.2 display driver will arrive with some delay. AMD has announced that 12.2 will not be released in February as expected, at least not with the official WHQL tag.

Just to make sure the tradition is continued, AMD has released the 12.2 pre-certified drivers, noting that the only thing which differs from the expected release is the Microsoft seal of approval, while the features and behavior will be those presented in the "pre" driver. The WHQL is to be expected early next week, Windows logo and all.

Until then, the first Application Profiles package corresponding to the 12.2 Catalyst surfaces and brings a lot of new stuff. CrossFire performance is enhanced for the following titles: Mass Effect, Path of Exile, and Wargame: European Escalation - DirectX 9 version; the DirectX 11 version of Wargame: European Escalation gets the reported flickering display errors fixed.

Darkness 2 had some flickering issues on single-GPU systems when Anti-Aliasing was forced on in the CCC, while Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning's character texture corruption in the same scenario (single GPU and so on) is also resolved.

CrossFire is now disabled with Mout Blade due to the capped Frame Rate and imminent corruption, while the DirectX11version of L.A. Noire shadow flickering is being solved and overall CrossFire performance gets a boost.

You can now download the AMD Catalyst 12.2 Application Profiles CAP 1.
